Lions Myalup Pines Cottage Stay
Saturday June 2, 2018 @ 8:30 am - Monday June 4, 2018 @ 5:00 pm
This year for the June long weekend, we will be visiting the Myalup Pine Cottage’s approximately 70 km’s south of the Mandurah TS on Forestry Rd east of the Forest H’way. The link for the cottages is www.myaluppines.com.au
The cottages are old worldly timber shacks with bunk bed accommodation, BBQ facilities, open fire pit, kitchen and bath room facilities. Weather permitting we may have the luxury of an outside open fire with a sing song. I have booked two cottages which accommodate a total of 20.
The first cottage takes 8 people but has one room with a double bed which has a single in it.
The second cottage takes 12 but has one room with two single in it.
So if you are a couple and want privacy, you better get in quick.
Food and what to bring, what is supplied:
You are to bring all your own food, towels, toiletries and bedding. There are no shops. I suggest to bring a frozen BBQ pack for the first night. BYO all food and drinks.
I managed to get a flat rate of $25/night which is $50 total for two nights. Numbers are limited so first in best dressed.
Email Stan on firstname.lastname@example.org stating number of attendance, whether you require the room with double bed and whether you are driving down or riding down (weather permitting). To help me, please email ASAP.
To get to there:
Approximately 70 km’s south of Mandurah off the Forrest H’way, turn left onto Forrestry Road towards Harvey. Forestry Rd is approximately 3.8 km’s south of the Gull Settlers Roadhouse. Then it is 3.3 km’s to the cottages which will be on your left.
There is going to be two options for getting down there.
Firstly, meeting at the Mandurah TS at 8.30 am Saturday 2nd June 2018 and riding down on touring bikes. Alternatively members can drive down.
Saturday, 2nd June 2018.
Members driving down can go for a ride to Harvey and back or go visit the hamlet of Mylup Beach.
Members riding down, depending on weather and wind conditions should arrive around lunch time. If their energy levels are still good, they too may want to go for a ride after settling in.
Evening meal will be a group BBQ and a sit around the open pit fire to sort out all the worlds problems, weather permitting.
Sunday, 3rd June 2018.
Choices ,choices, choices. A ride will be to Myalup Beach for morning tea approximately 11 km’s. Then something we have never done before and this is to travel along a very beautiful stretch of road that skirts Lake Preston called Lake Preston Rd (funny that). I have googled it and it looks good. But we will have to return the same way as the road turns into a limestone road so we will go as far as we can, about a 13 km round trip. Back to Myalup Beach for lunch or alternatively we can go to the Old Coast Road Brewery on the way back to the cottages for lunch.
About mid afternoon, the intention is to ride to Harvey for afternoon tea or alternatively we can ride there to a pub for our evening meal. About a 28 km round trip which is doable. So long as you have your lights. Or you/we can cook in. Weather permitting, a sit around the open pit fire may be in order again to sort out the rest of the worlds problems that we did not sort out the night before. There are a lot of them but we should manage it.

After breakfast, break camp and head for home with the mode of transport you have chosen. Of course after the mandatory general clean up.
