Retiree’s Run 2022

Monday April 4, 2022 - Saturday April 9, 2022

Distance: ~330km: , , , ,

To participate in this event, riders must:

  • be current financial members of the Cycle Touring Association of Western Australia (Inc)
  • be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
  • carry proof of vaccination status
  • comply fully with all prevailing WA Government health directives

The 2022 CTA Retiree’s Run will be an unsupported tour over 6 riding days, exploring some tiny towns within the periphery of the northeast wheat belt region. Five overnight stops will be in the towns of Wongan Hills, Ballidu, Kalannie, Dalwallinu and Miling.

Due to limited facilities in some of the smaller towns, the total number of tour participants will be capped at 30 people.

Camping arrangements will be coordinated on behalf of those participants pitching their tents at respective caravan parks. Participants are also welcome to arrange their own alternate accommodation for all or some of the nights. However, they will be responsible to book and make their own payments direct to the provider. Please be aware, non-camping accommodation options are very limited in a few towns. Refer to the listings in the tour Accommodation and Food Options document for further information.

As this area is traversed by a major trucking route with high volumes of large vehicles servicing mining and other industries situated north of Perth, a 330km loop route on predominantly sealed, quiet back country roads has been devised, however, it does necessitate traversing some sections of gravel roads to enable safe connections to avoid riding along Great Northern Highway.

The tour will start and finish in the town of Yerecoin, some 145km from Perth via the Tonkin Highway and Great Northern Highway. Located 15 km due east of New Norcia, take the turnoff onto Glentromie – Yerecoin Road to reach the town. Through the auspices of club member Michael Waters, parking of tour participant’s vehicles for the duration of the event will be facilitated on a nearby family farm. Separate advice as to its exact location and assembly time for the commencement of the tour will be forwarded directly to participants following submission of a tour registration form.

Registration Form – CTAWA 2022 Retiree’s Run Registration Form has fillable fields which may be supported by your browser. For those who may encounter problems (e.g. some Apple users) an alternative form is available here.
