Social Night: Qld Rail Trail Tour + Q&A with The CTA Panel

Thursday August 18, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

: ,

The next Social Night on 18 Aug promises to be an interesting night where we’ll hear about the CTA tour to Queensland as well as a Q&A session with The CTA Panel.

Queensland Rail Trails Tour – Climbing mountains in a flood

The QRTT was a fun tour enjoyed by six CTAWA riders in May 2022 (Type 2 fun; fun when you look back on it). We cycled a 1000 km loop from Brisbane over the hill to Stuart’s old family farm on the edge of the Lockyer Valley, then up the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail in the month it was open between the New Year floods and the mid-year floods to Yarraman on the Great Dividing Range. From there it was up to the Bunya Mountains, up the Blackall Range and back to Brisbane. In between we changed route six times to avoid flooded creeks, saw our tents floating in a campsite and walked up two 1:5 mountain roads (except Bruce who rode up!), paid homage to the BeeGees and saw a platypus while having breakfast. Come along to the Social Night where each of the riders has been asked to present their view of what was good, bad or fun about the ride.

Q&A with The CTA Panel

Come and listen to some sound sage advice from our very own CTA panel of experienced touring cyclists.  If you are new to cycle touring or have always wanted to know how seasoned cyclists plan their route, choose where to stay, what to pack/wear/eat, then come along to hear from our in-house experts Christine, John, Rita and Trevor.  They will have plenty to share to make your trips more comfortable and enjoyable.  If you are too shy to ask questions on the night, please email them to hey_yew@ctawa.asn.au .  Think Q+A, The Panel or even The Graham Norton Show (but without the Red Chair!).

A light supper will be provided on the night.  Don’t forget to bring your own mug.

See you at The Rise in Maylands, 7pm.  However, to prevent the spread of Covid & flu, please do not attend if you have any flu-like symptoms or have a cough.  Thank you for your cooperation.
