In 2023, the On Your Bike tour (OYB) will cross (and/or ride along) many of the rivers that have their source in the Darling Ranges. Starting near the Ashfield Train Station on the Midland train line, the ride will head north along the Tonkin Highway PSP, before heading west into the Chittering Valley. The tour begins initially in the vicinity of the Swan River, and in the Chittering Valley will travel along a portion of the Brockman River. After going over the Darling Range, the tour crosses the Avon River multiple times, including near (and/or in) Toodyay, York and Beverley. Subsequent rivers include the Hotham, Murray and Serpentine Rivers.

Overnight stays will include Lower Chittering, Toodyay, York, Brookton, Wandering, Boddington and Dwellingup. OYB 2023 includes two locations that OYB has not previously stayed – Lower Chittering and Wandering (Wandering has, however, been the start and end point twice). On the last day of the tour, we ride to the Mandurah Train Station, where participants can catch a train back to the Ashfield Train Station.

The rest day is in the historic town of Brookton, which is a mixed farming area within WA’s wheatbelt region. A visit to Boyagin Rock Nature Reserve will allow participants to walk among the powderbark, jarrah and marri trees, seeing the bush as it was before agriculture began (and for the energetic, to climb the rock!). In town, some of Brookton’s heritage has been restored, including the Old Railway Station and Pioneer Park. Also, the local historical society has its museum located in the Old Police Station.

More details are in the tour brochure, or you can contact Christine on 0400 570 077 or email tour-leader-oyb@ctawa.asn.au for further information.
