The Cycling Touring Association of WA (Inc.) is a not-for-profit recreational cycling club which organises a wide variety of recreational & social rides, including short and long day rides, weekend trips and longer cycle tours of a week or more.
The club has rides every Sunday (and Wednesday) throughout the year. Ride distances range from 20km to 80km in a day, and cover city, coastal and country areas. We have a selection of longer challenge rides that cater for those wishing to achieve some personal goals in cycling.
During the warmer summer months, we have mid-week dinner rides. These are usually held very fortnight on a Wednesday (or Thursday) night and are relatively short (e.g. 20Km).
From time to time, we hold weekends away. Details of these are advised in our newsletter and the rides calendar. They usually correspond to major public holidays, but not always. There is usually a trip away for the Easter weekend.
The club holds at least three social nights throughout the year. These social nights generally consist of a presentation by one or more members, or by an invited guest, with a light supper being provided.
Each year in the spring, the club organises the week-long “On Your Bike” tour. This is a fully supported tour which visits the country areas of Western Australia. See the OYB tours page for more information on this years tour.
A newsletter, The Chain Letter, is produced quarterly (seasonally, every three months) and includes details of upcoming events planned for the next few months. The newsletter also includes articles written by the members about previous rides, tours, bikes, and anything else the editor thinks is appropriate. If you would like to submit an article for the newsletter please send an email to editor@ctawa.asn.au. The deadline for each issue is usually a week or two before the end of the quarter and is published in the previous issue.
The association is an incorporated not-for-profit organisation and is governed by a constitution (PDF) (this version of the Constitution has been produced to conform to the Associations Incorporation Act 2015). Each year there is an Annual General Meeting that elects the Committee. Various awards are also presented. All committee members and ride organisers are volunteers. The committee members for the current year are here.
