Under New Management

Ride Leaders Needed.  Earn the respect, affection and undying loyalty of your peers in the CTA.  It’s easy – all you have to do is lead a ride and they will follow you to the ends of the earth, or even just as far as your favourite café if that is your preference.

To make things even easier, you don’t even have to come up with a route if you’re time poor.   Simply visit our convenient list of ready-to-go gpx files at  ctawa.asn.au/ride/all-ride-routes  and scroll down until you find the “Day Ride Library” files.  There are twenty to choose from – flat or hilly, short or long –  there’s a ride for everybody.

Once you have chosen your route, email  rides@ctawa.asn.au  with your preferred date and start time.

Today’s turn at the front goes to Patrick.  Sunrise is at 06:13, so plenty of time for breakfast before a civilised start time.

Start Time:  Meet at 08:15 for 08:30 depart.  Plenty of time to sign in to today’s ride and to sign up to lead a ride, so come prepared.

Start Location:  Bank’s Reserve, at riverside BBQ area – watch out for the ducks.

Alternative Start:  If you can’t get to Bank’s Reserve in time, the alternative is to make your way to Midland train station.  We will do a ride past at around 09:30 so you can jump on there.  The round trip starting at Midland is about 40 km.

Description: Follow the south side of the river upstream to Midland, then break a sweat climbing the scarp to Mundaring via the infamous Ryecroft Road. After coffee at A Patch of Country, hop across Great Eastern Highway and meander down the back roads to Parkerville before skipping onto the Heritage Rail Trail for a bit of compacted gravel on the descent back to Midland.  Bring a light, in case we have to use the tunnel if the bypass is still closed.  Return to Bank’s Reserve along the north side of the river.
